Online Current Events League Rules
For Validity and Fairness, All League Rules Must Be Followed.
The following are some Rules and Process details on how the 2008-09 News Bowl Online Current Events League will be administered.
-
A News Bowl Online Current Events team consists of 1-5 students who test online in the school.
-
Students in grades 3 through high school may enter the league.
-
A test period lasts 30 minutes or less. The test is 50 multiple choice questions.
-
League (monthly) tests will cover news from the first three weeks of the month. The test is the last week of the month.
-
News Bowl will post Top 100 grade level national rankings and state rankings during the first week of the following month.
-
Each team must choose a team captain to enter answers using the mouse.
-
Each team must choose a team member to record the answers on a News Bowl Answer Sheet.
-
A student may test only one time per league (month). Students may be on different teams monthly.
-
Team members may not use notes of any kind while testing.
-
Teachers or any one else in the room at the time of testing may not help the team answer questions.
-
Scores do not aggregate monthly because teams may change or some classrooms may not test every league.
-
The goal for each team is to reach the “benchmark” or passing score for their grade level.
-
In case of computer failure during testing, the team should go back to home page, refresh and start over.
